Phosphodiesterase enzyme (deoxyribonuclease)

Phosphodiesterase is a powerful enzyme that breaks down the phosphodiester bonds in DNA. This enzyme targets the extracellular DNA that holds odours in fabric fibres. By breaking these bonds, Gear Guard removes the 'glue' that traps odours in your gear, helping it smell fresh again.

Water

Water in Gear Guard serves a critical purpose by ensuring an even distribution of the active enzyme across your gear during the wash cycle. This helps the enzyme reach every fibre, improving its effectiveness at breaking down trapped residues and odours. Unlike most detergents and additives, we've kept the water content low, which allows us to keep the bottle size small and reduce costs.

Preservatives (MCI & MI)

The preservatives Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) and Methylisothiazolinone (MI) keep Gear Guard fresh on the shelf, even in warm, humid places like your laundry room. Gear Guard contains MCI/MI at concentrations well below the recommended 15 ppm. The wash cycle further dilutes these preservatives. The rinse cycle dilutes them even more. This greatly reduces the chance of MCI or MI remaining on your gi, rash guard, or other training equipment.

Research shows that MCI and MI are safe for wash-off products, including laundry additives, at concentrations below 15 ppm. Wash-off products have a low risk of Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD). But, it can still occur in sensitised or non-sensitised people. If you've had sensitivities before or have concerns, we recommend trying a single bottle first. Are there any other ingredients in Gear Guard?

No. Gear Guard does not contain any surfactants for cleaning, or fragrance or scent boosters; We've kept it simple!
